Habits can pretty much make or break a kid. The right ones will get your life sail through hard times like anything but the wrong ones will put you into a hole from which you will never be able to recover.

School is the first official institution for a child which gives their life a sense of uniformity, routine, and most of all discipline. Following these religiously; a child’s personality can shape up into becoming an all-rounder student. It’s not about how well he/she studies or how smart he is on the academic front but about how well you grow into a well-designed environment into becoming an all-rounder.

Let’s dive in and see how a student can become an all-rounder in his life.

 1. Work hard at studies:

Get your mind out of the misconception that only nerds and book worms score well and do good in studies, so it’s their area of expertise; No. An all-rounder is the one who outperforms his competition in every opportunity they are given. Becoming an all-rounder will entail you to work hard and be good in your studies too.

2. Take up a hobby seriously:

Whatever you may take up, stick to it religiously. Try your hands on different kinds of hobbies – indoors, outdoors, physical & mental. Try making it into a routine to follow for the future. That’s how you will get good with it.

3. Learn time management:

Timeis limited but, not just for you. It is limited for everyone. Make sure you utilise it right. Your goal should not be to pass time and wait for the end of the day to go to bed and sleep, but it should be; how you can utilise your time and make your own way to becoming the best version of yourself. If you find yourself idle for hours without anything to do; you are literally wasting it all away.

4. Be careful about your friends:

It’s good to have friends, but you should know what kind of friends they are. The company of friends you have makes all the difference in the world, especially at that tender age, when the child doesn’t know any better. The wrong company can push you away from your ambitions and into something much darker. For example, bad habits like smoking, drinking, even doping. Staying away is in everyone’s best interest.

5. Sit in the front:

Sitting in front won’t mean that you are some sort of geek or a nerd that only just cares about being studious. It means that you know what you want and you are willing to make efforts to go and get it.

An all-rounder is the one who capitalizes on every opportunity and leaves a mark of his/her own touch when they are done. If sitting in front is what it takes to have good grades and sort out your academic front in school, just do it.

6. Have self-discipline:

Self-discipline is the one thing that you will need for the rest of your life to be great at whatever you do, not just school. It is just what anyone needs to get ahead in life and schooling is the time that it has to start or it will take years to form if not formed then.

7. Tire yourself out:

Don’t sweat the small stuff. Make sure you are doing all that it takes and going to the ends of the earth to finish it. It’s okay to take breaks when you feel completely exhausted but don’t give it up altogether. Make sure you cross the finish line every time.

 8. Don’t stop at failure:

If you stop at failure then you won’t see any success, ever. Be it academics, sports, extra co-curricular activities, or anything else. If you think you are not made for it; you have just not tried hard enough to see it through. Keep the equation simple and don’t stop until you win.

9. Keep your ego at bay:

Having an ego just kills each and every chance of success. Ego is what makes everything turn to less than its worth; maybe nothing at all. Don’t think that any task, any goal, any ambition, any kind of work is beneath you. Do whatever it takes to win, because in the end if you don’t win at it; that same petty task or challenge you thought was beneath you will water your ship down.

 10. Be ready to learn always

Learning never stops. It only stops when you die. If you think that you have learned enough; no one can be more wrong than you. Be inclined to learn always. Besides every other trait; this will help you derive the satisfaction you always yearn for, in life.
